Expands loan repayment assistance eligibility for primary care physicians in Massachusetts.
The bill expands eligibility for the loan repayment assistance program to include primary care physicians such as family physicians, internal medicine physicians, pediatricians, and obstetricians and gynecologists. To qualify, these physicians must work in a practice with a significant public payor patient population, have outstanding educational debt, not participate in any other loan repayment program, and commit to a minimum 4-year contract with the commonwealth. Assistance amounts are pro-rated for part-time workers.
