Massachusetts S1336 aims to expand access to the certified nurses’ aides certification process by offering the certification exam in multiple languages, including Portuguese, Haitian Creole, Spanish, and Chinese. The Department of Public Health will review the exam to ensure it meets current standards and remove any ambiguous questions. Training materials and score reports will also be provided in multiple languages. Students who pass the clinical component of the exam will be allowed to work as a nurses’ aide for up to six months before taking the knowledge component.
