Massachusetts H85 amends the definition of "new technology" to exclude certain equipment and services from being considered new.

Massachusetts H85 amends the definition of "new technology" in Section 25B of chapter 111 of the General Laws. The bill excludes computerized tomography and equipment widely used as standard diagnostic, treatment, or therapeutic technology from being considered new technology. The definition now includes equipment such as magnetic resonance imagers and linear accelerators, as well as services, which are determined to be new technology by the department based on quality, access, or cost.
