Supports farm diversification and sustainability in Massachusetts by amending agricultural preservation restrictions.
This bill amends Massachusetts law to allow landowners under agricultural preservation restrictions to appeal decisions regarding special permits for nonagricultural activities. It also permits the Department of Agricultural Resources to issue special permits for a trial period of one year to evaluate proposals for nonagricultural activities. If the department fails to notify the permit holder within one year of the issuance of a special permit, the permit automatically renews for five years.
