Massachusetts H722 aims to limit political spending by foreign-influenced corporations.
Massachusetts H722 amends Chapter 55 to restrict political spending by foreign-influenced corporations. It requires that any independent expenditure or electioneering communication include a disclaimer if funds may have come from such corporations. A foreign-influenced corporation is defined as one where a foreign owner holds a significant ownership stake or has decision-making influence. Corporations must certify under penalty of perjury that their funds are not from foreign-influenced corporations. Failure to comply results in the disclaimer being added to the communication.
