Establishes student advisory committees in Massachusetts public schools and charter schools.
The bill amends Chapter 71 of the General Laws to create student advisory committees in public schools and charter schools. These committees will consist of five student members elected by the student body. The committees will meet with school committees or boards of trustees at least once every other month during school sessions. The student advisory committee will elect a chairperson who will serve as an ex-officio, nonvoting member of the school committee or board of trustees. The chairperson will have no right to attend executive sessions unless expressly granted.
