Introduced·4/2/26
Introduced Text

Massachusetts H5332 amends the City of Holyoke Charter to address vacancies in the office of mayor and city clerk.

Massachusetts H5332 amends the City of Holyoke Charter to provide procedures for filling vacancies in the office of mayor and city clerk. If a vacancy in the office of mayor occurs more than six months before the end of the municipal year, the city council must call for a new election. Similarly, if a vacancy in the office of city clerk occurs within the same timeframe, the city council must elect a replacement until the next municipal year. The bill also allows the city council to fill vacancies in the city council itself under certain conditions.
