Massachusetts H5306 aims to ensure economic opportunity and geographic equity in alcoholic beverages licensing.
Massachusetts H5306 amends Chapter 138 of the General Laws to prevent new premises within 500 feet of existing off-premises alcohol sales licenses from obtaining similar licenses unless the local licensing authority determines it won't harm public health. This provision does not apply to transfers of existing licenses to more remote locations. The act applies to new licenses issued after January 1, 2027.
