Massachusetts H5227 establishes specific rules for filling vacancies in the Marlborough city council, particularly for ward councilors. If a vacancy occurs before the last 12 months of a councilor's term, the city council must order an election to fill the vacancy. If a vacancy occurs in the last 12 months of the term, the remaining council members must fill the vacancy by majority vote. This act takes effect upon passage.
