Massachusetts H5137 prohibits the sale of parrots and restricts their trade.

Massachusetts H5137 amends Chapter 140 of the General Laws to prohibit the sale, exchange, trade, barter, lease, or transfer for permanent physical placement of parrots. Exceptions allow surrender or transfer to animal rescue organizations or public animal control facilities or shelters, which may then transfer the parrots to individuals. Violations carry a fine of up to $1,000.
