H5022

Relative to direct primary care

Introduced·2/5/26
Introduced Text

Massachusetts H5022 prohibits health insurance carriers from denying payment for services based on out-of-network referrals.

Massachusetts H5022 amends several sections of the General Laws to ensure that health insurance carriers cannot deny payment for health care services solely because the referral was made by a provider outside the carrier's network. This applies to various types of health insurance, including those for hospital and surgical expenses, accident or sickness insurance, and employer-provided plans. The changes are effective for all health plans renewed or amended one year after the bill's effective date.
