H5000

To allow single-family homes on small lots in areas with adequate infrastructure

Introduced·2/5/26
Introduced Text

Massachusetts H5000 would allow single-family homes on small lots in areas with adequate infrastructure.

Massachusetts H5000 would allow single-family homes to be built in residentially zoned areas if the lot is at least 5,000 square feet, has at least 50 feet of frontage, and has access to public sewer and water services. The law would also allow cities and towns to regulate certain aspects of these homes, including height and short-term rental restrictions. The Executive Office of Housing and Livable Communities may issue guidelines or regulations to administer this law.
