Relative to the diagnosis and treatment of autism spectrum disorder

Expands who can diagnose and treat autism spectrum disorder in Massachusetts.

This bill amends various sections of Massachusetts law to expand the types of licensed professionals who can diagnose and treat autism spectrum disorder. Specifically, it allows licensed nurse practitioners and licensed psychiatric nurse mental health clinical specialists to diagnose and treat autism spectrum disorder, in addition to licensed physicians. These changes apply to health insurance policies, contracts, and certificates issued or renewed after January 1, 2027.
