The bill amends Chapter 221 of the General Laws to set the rate for transcripts of notes or audio recordings taken at trials or hearings. The transcriber shall be paid $4.50 per page for the original transcript and $1.50 per page for each copy ordered. If an electronic reproduction is requested, the rate is capped at $7.50 per reproduction. Transcripts for indigent persons or their counsel are charged at $0.15 per page. The presiding justice or any party can order a transcript, with payment made by the requesting party.
