Expanding loan repayment assistance for primary care physicians working in integrated primary and behavioral health care settings

Introduced·11/5/25
Introduced Text

Expands loan repayment assistance for primary care physicians in integrated primary and behavioral health care settings.

This bill establishes a fund to provide grants to primary care physicians, including family physicians, internal medicine physicians, pediatricians, and obstetricians and gynecologists, to assist with loan repayment. The fund prioritizes a diverse workforce and requires physicians to work in settings that integrate primary and behavioral health care, have outstanding educational debt, not participate in other Massachusetts loan repayment programs, and commit to a minimum 4-year contract with the commonwealth. The fund will be used to expand primary care capacity in underserved communities.
