Massachusetts H464 requires high school students to receive hands-only CPR training and defibrillator use education.
Massachusetts H464 mandates that each public high school student participate in a hands-only CPR training and defibrillator use instructional program as a graduation requirement. The program must include a hands-on learning component. School districts can choose a no-cost, non-certification instructional program from a nationally recognized association. Students can opt out if a physician certifies participation would be injurious or if a parent or guardian objects. The act takes effect on September 1, 2025.
