Introduced Text

Massachusetts H4577 authorizes Provincetown to impose a 0.5% real estate transfer fee on property sales.

Massachusetts H4577 authorizes the town of Provincetown to impose a 0.5% real estate transfer fee on the purchase price of any real property. The fee is the liability of the purchaser and cannot be allocated to the seller. The fee is due at the time of transfer and accrues interest at the rate the town collects on unpaid real estate taxes. Certain transfers are exempt, including those to first-time homebuyers, government entities, and charitable or religious organizations.
