To ensure access to prescription medications

Introduced·7/31/25
Introduced Text

Ensures access to prescription medications by regulating pharmacy benefits managers and covered entities.

This bill aims to ensure access to prescription medications by amending Chapter 176D of the General Laws. It mandates that pharmacy benefits managers and covered entities establish a process for pharmacies to contest drug costs. Pharmacies can appeal if a drug is not listed as "A" or "AB" rated in the FDA's Orange Book, or if the maximum allowable cost is below the drug's general availability cost. Pharmacies must file appeals within seven business days, and benefits managers must resolve appeals within seven business days of receipt.
