Introduced·5/29/25
Introduced Text

Authorizes the city of Somerville to use automated enforcement for certain traffic violations.

This bill allows the city of Somerville to use automated road safety camera systems to enforce certain traffic violations. The systems can capture photographs and data of vehicles committing violations. The city must conduct a public awareness campaign before implementing the system. The registered owner of a vehicle is liable for the fine unless the vehicle was rented or leased at the time of the violation. Owners can contest violations and request hearings. Photographs and data collected are not public record and cannot be used in other legal proceedings without a court order.
