Introduced Text

Extends veterans' benefits to surviving spouses in Massachusetts.

This bill amends Chapter 115 of the Massachusetts General Laws to extend financial assistance benefits to surviving spouses of eligible veterans. Upon the veteran's death, the surviving spouse will receive the same benefits for 12 months, followed by 75% of the veteran's benefit rate. The Executive Office of Veterans' Services will manage the implementation, coordinate with local agents, and report on the financial impact. Benefits will cease if the spouse remarries.
