Massachusetts H3877 provides creditable service for veterans in retirement systems.
Massachusetts H3877 amends retirement laws to allow creditable service for veterans in state and local retirement systems. This applies to both former and present National Guard and Active Reserve personnel who are veterans. Creditable service time, both enlisted and commissioned, may be applied toward retirement on a ratio of five years guard service or five years active reserve service substitutable for each year of active service. The provisions take effect by majority vote of the board of the retirement system and the local legislative body.
