The bill expands the mission of the Office of the Veteran Advocate to ensure that veterans and servicemembers receive humane and dignified treatment, coordinate with local veterans service agents, examine care and services provided by executive agencies, and advise on improving services. The advocate will also investigate incidents where a veteran suffered serious injury or death while receiving services from an executive agency. The advocate will be appointed by the attorney general, state auditor, and governor, and can be removed for cause by a majority vote of these officials.
