Establishes solar energy requirements for new buildings in Massachusetts.
The bill mandates that new buildings in Massachusetts include solar energy systems to meet a significant portion of their electricity needs. Detached one- and two-family dwellings and multiple single-family dwellings must have solar systems producing at least 80% of their estimated annual electricity use. Multi-family dwellings and commercial buildings up to six stories must have solar energy systems and battery storage systems of a minimum capacity set by the department.
