The bill mandates that trucks with a gross vehicle weight rating of 10,001 pounds or more, operated under a contract with or leased or purchased by the state, municipalities, electric companies, gas companies, utilities, or wireless providers, must be equipped with lateral protective devices, convex mirrors, crossover mirrors, and backup cameras starting January 1, 2028. The registrar will adopt regulations consistent with the U.S. Department of Transportation's side guard standard.
