Relative to automatic re-enrollment in the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP)

Introduced·2/27/25
Introduced Text

Automatically re-enrolls eligible households in the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) for the next heating season.

This bill amends the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) to automatically re-enroll eligible households for the following heating season, provided they continue to meet federal and state eligibility requirements. The heating season is defined as the period between November 2 and April 30, unless otherwise designated by the Executive Office of Housing and Livable Communities. This change aims to ensure that low-income households do not have to reapply for benefits each year, streamlining the process and potentially increasing access to assistance.
