Massachusetts H3482 amends Chapter 164 of the General Laws to prohibit the location of new natural gas or diesel generation facilities within one mile of environmental justice communities, playgrounds, day-care centers, schools, churches, areas of critical environmental concern, or residential housing. This linear distance is measured from any point along a generating facility to the outermost point of these zones. Exceptions are made for repairs or replacements that do not increase megawatts generated in facilities operating before January 1, 2017.
