To establish municipal access to utility poles located in municipal rights-of-way

Introduced·2/27/25
Introduced Text

Establishes municipal access to utility poles in municipal rights-of-way for public health, safety, and welfare purposes.

The bill amends chapter 166 of the General Laws to allow municipalities to attach their facilities to shared-use poles for governmental purposes or to provide broadband service in unserved or underserved areas. The owner or entity attaching to the pole is responsible for their own expenses for accommodating the municipality. This change aims to safeguard access to essential infrastructure.
