To give tax relief to parents with children in private schools

Introduced·2/27/25
Introduced Text

Provides tax relief to parents with children in private schools by reducing taxable real estate valuation.

This bill proposes to amend the General Laws of Massachusetts to authorize real estate tax abatements for parents with minor children enrolled in private schools. Specifically, it reduces the taxable valuation of the parents' real estate by one thousand dollars for each child enrolled in a private school. To qualify, the real estate must be owned and occupied by the parent as their domicile, and the parent must provide annual proof of the child's enrollment to the local assessors.
