Massachusetts H3175 amends the General Laws to prohibit the placement of new fossil fuel transmission pipelines within one mile of playgrounds, licensed day-care centers, schools, churches, areas of critical environmental concern, or residential housing. This distance is measured from any point along the pipeline to the outermost point of the sensitive area. Exceptions are made for repairs or replacements that do not increase capacity in pipelines operational before January 1, 2024.
