H3048

Relative to increasing interest rate deductions

Introduced·2/27/25
Introduced Text

Increases interest rate deductions for Massachusetts taxpayers.

This bill proposes to amend the Massachusetts General Laws to increase the allowable deductions for interest earned on savings deposits, accounts, and shares. Specifically, it raises the deduction limit from $500 to $1,000 for single filers, heads of household, and married persons filing separately, and from $1,000 to $2,000 for married couples filing jointly. This change aims to provide greater tax relief to taxpayers by allowing them to deduct more interest income from their taxable income.
