Establishes a presumption of line-of-duty PTSD for certain public safety and emergency personnel.
This bill amends Chapter 32 of the General Laws to establish a presumption that post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) is suffered in the line of duty for specific public safety and emergency personnel. The presumption applies to those diagnosed within five years of their last active service date. It covers full-time uniformed members of police, fire, and emergency medical services, as well as state police, MBTA police, and public works building police. The presumption does not apply if the PTSD results from disciplinary actions or similar personnel decisions.
