Relative to teacher’s retirement buyback for former parochial school teachers

Allows former parochial school teachers to buy back up to 10 years of service credit for retirement.

This bill amends the Massachusetts General Laws to allow former parochial school teachers to purchase up to 10 years of service credit for retirement purposes. Eligible teachers must have taught in a school approved by the Department of Education or another state's education department. They must also meet certain contribution requirements, including making payments into their retirement fund with interest. The bill specifies that the member's last ten years of creditable service must be as a state employee or teacher in the Commonwealth.
