Massachusetts H2662 allows veterans who missed the 180-day window to buy back service time for retirement benefits.
Massachusetts H2662 amends existing law to provide a one-time opportunity for veterans who did not purchase service time within 180 days of vesting to do so within one year of the act's effective date. This applies to members in service who are veterans and failed to make the purchase authorized in paragraph (h) of subdivision (1) of section 4 of chapter 32 of the General Laws. Each retirement system must notify all members in service of their potential eligibility for this purchase within 90 days of the act's effective date.
