Establishes state and local child fatality review teams to study and prevent child fatalities and near fatalities.
The bill establishes a state child fatality review team within the Office of the Child Advocate to study the incidence and causes of child fatalities and near fatalities in Massachusetts. The state team will develop protocols, provide training, and review reports from local teams. Local teams will be established in each district to review individual cases, promote cooperation between agencies, and advise the state team. Both teams will be exempt from subpoena and discovery, and their meetings will be closed to the public.
