Massachusetts H2277 allows cities and towns to set lower maximum tow rates during declared emergencies.
Massachusetts H2277 amends Chapter 159B of the General Laws to allow cities and towns to establish reduced maximum tow rates during declared snow emergencies, natural disasters, extreme weather-related emergencies, or states of emergency related to threats. The reduced rate is set at half of the usual maximum rate. This provision applies only to the portion of the rate collected by the city or town. Any contract between the city or town and a tow service provider must include this reduced rate during such emergencies.
