Massachusetts H2261 prohibits the sale and use of polystyrene foam food containers, including those made from expanded or extruded polystyrene. Effective January 1, 2024, stores, food distributors, and food packagers cannot sell or package food in these containers. The state and its contractors are also barred from using them. The bill aims to reduce environmental impact by eliminating polystyrene foam food containers.
