Establishes a fifteen-mile residency requirement for firefighters in Massachusetts.
The bill amends the General Laws to set a fifteen-mile residency limit for firefighters appointed after August 1, 1978, who are not subject to Chapter 31. This distance is measured from the closest border limits of the city or town where the firefighter is employed to the closest border limits of the city or town where the firefighter lives. The residency limit may be increased by a city or town through a collective bargaining agreement under Chapter 150E.
