H2240

Relative to discharges from sober homes

Introduced·2/27/25
Introduced Text

Massachusetts H2240 establishes approved discharge and transfer policies for sober homes, allowing immediate discharge only under specific conditions.

Massachusetts H2240 amends the state's regulations to include minimum standards for discharge and transfer policies in certified-alcohol and drug-free housing. These policies must be approved by an accredited program and the bureau. Immediate discharge or transfer of a resident is permitted only when necessary for the resident's welfare, when the resident's needs cannot be met at the sober home, or when the health and safety of other residents, employees, or volunteers is at risk.
