Massachusetts H2230 requires emergency medical service providers, emergency departments, state and local law enforcement agencies, sheriffs’ offices, fire departments, and coroners to record and submit the location data of fatal and nonfatal opiate overdoses to the Department of Public Health. The Department, in consultation with the Center for Health Information and Analysis, will maintain a public database website displaying these locations. The data collection and release must comply with federal Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act regulations.
