Establishes forensic units in certain Massachusetts hospitalization settings for specialized care.
This bill amends Massachusetts law to create forensic units in specific hospitalization settings. These units are physically separate and have restrictions similar to incarceration. They include specialized staffing trained to work with specific patient populations. Individuals admitted under certain conditions must be initially admitted to a forensic unit. This applies to those admitted under conditions described in paragraphs (b) and (e) of Section 15, paragraphs (a), (c), and (e) of Section 16, and paragraphs (a) and (b) of Section 18 of Chapter 123.
