Introduced·2/27/25
Introduced Text

Establishes parity for mental and behavioral health services in Massachusetts insurance policies.

The bill amends various sections of Massachusetts General Laws to ensure parity for mental and behavioral health services. It prohibits discrimination in health insurance policies for mental health conditions, including autism spectrum disorder. The bill mandates that insurance policies provide nondiscriminatory benefits for the diagnosis and treatment of mental disorders. It also requires network hospitals to be compensated at full negotiated rates for behavioral health services provided to MassHealth patients. The changes apply to policies issued or renewed after July 1, 2026.
