Ensuring access to addiction services

Introduced·2/27/25
Introduced Text

Ensuring access to addiction services by maintaining a roster of facilities and secure facilities for treatment.

The bill amends Section 35 of Chapter 123 of the General Laws to ensure an adequate supply of beds in facilities and secure facilities for the treatment of alcohol or substance use disorders. The Department of Public Health must maintain a roster of these facilities, including the number of available beds and their security levels. The roster must be made available to the trial court. The bill also mandates that secure facilities be geographically distributed throughout Massachusetts to ensure access to treatment in all regions.
