H2058

Relative to state compliance with detainer requests

Introduced·2/27/25
Introduced Text

Massachusetts H2058 mandates compliance with detainer requests from U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

Massachusetts H2058 requires state and local law enforcement agencies to comply with detainer requests from U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement. It prohibits agencies from establishing policies that would allow officers to refuse these requests. Officers must be trained on the legal basis and procedural steps for compliance. Agencies must report annually to the Secretary of Public Safety and Security on the number of detainer requests received, honored, and reasons for non-compliance, excluding personally-identifiable information.
