This bill amends Section 35 of Massachusetts General Law Chapter 123 to expand the list of individuals who can petition for a commitment order for those believed to have an alcohol or substance use disorder. The bill adds Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselors (I or II) and Licensed Social Workers to the list of petitioners, which already includes police officers, physicians, spouses, blood relatives, guardians, court officials, and others. This act takes effect upon passage.
