Introduced·2/27/25
Introduced Text

Prevents unauthorized use of an individual's image and voice for commercial purposes in Massachusetts.

The bill amends Chapter 214 of the General Laws to protect individuals' likenesses and voices from exploitation. It defines likeness as any representation or image, including digital creations, that can be attributed to a person. Voice is defined as any sound in a medium that can be attributed to a particular individual. The bill grants individuals exclusive rights to their likenesses and voices, prohibiting their use for advertising or trade without written consent. Individuals can sue for damages if their likeness or voice is used without permission.
