Introduced·2/27/25
Introduced Text

Provides shelter in the form of a hotel or motel to childless individuals with chronic disabilities experiencing homelessness.

This bill amends Chapter 23B of the General Laws to include childless individuals with chronic disabilities experiencing homelessness in the definition of those eligible for housing assistance. It requires the Department to provide housing to these individuals, specifically mentioning Patrick Joseph Kearney. The bill also mandates that the Commonwealth provide shelter in the form of a hotel or motel to individuals with disabilities who require home care, caretaker services, and constant stay and housing, and who require a reasonable accommodation which cannot be provided at overnight shelters.
