Establishes an extreme heat energy assistance program for Massachusetts residents during summer months.
The bill creates an annual extreme heat energy assistance program to help Massachusetts residents pay their energy bills from May 15 to September 30. The executive office of housing and livable communities, in coordination with the department of energy resources, will operate the program, subject to appropriation. The program will use the same grantee agencies, applications, and verification procedures as the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program, to the maximum extent possible.
