Eliminates the requirement for a primary care provider referral for specialty gynecological care in Massachusetts.

This bill amends Massachusetts law to remove the need for insured individuals to get a referral from a primary care provider for specialty gynecological care. Specifically, it eliminates the requirement for referrals for annual preventive gynecologic health care, menstrual health conditions, maternity care, and medically necessary evaluations and services for acute or emergency gynecological conditions. The changes apply to obstetricians, gynecologists, certified nurse-midwives, and family practitioners within the health care provider network.
