Allows pretrial or presentence inmates in Maine jails to participate in public works projects and have their sentences reduced.

This bill amends Maine law to allow inmates detained at a county or regional jail pretrial or presentence to voluntarily participate in public works-related projects or in the improvement of property owned by charitable organizations. Inmates who participate in these projects may have their sentences prorated at the rate of up to one day removed from their sentences for every hours of participation, provided they are sentenced on the charge for which they are detained.
