Clarifies procedures for handling votes when a ranked-choice voting candidate withdraws or becomes disqualified.
This bill modifies the ranked-choice voting procedures in Maine. It specifies that if a candidate withdraws from an election but their name remains on the ballot, votes for that candidate will not be counted in any round. Instead, the next highest-ranked continuing candidate will be counted. This adjustment applies to each subsequent round. The bill also ensures that exhausted ballots are not counted for any continuing candidate.
